Italy strengthens energy support for Ukraine with a large shipment of heating equipment
Ukraine will receive a large shipment of heating equipment from Italy to support its energy system, which has suffered serious damage as a result of massive Russian shelling. This was announced by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, noting that the delivery is the result of agreements between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
In the first stage, Ukraine will receive 78 industrial boilers with a total capacity of 116.5 megawatts. The equipment will be sent to the regions most affected by the attacks, including Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Kyiv and Donetsk Oblast. Over the next six months, Italy will transfer more than 300 boilers with a total capacity of 806 megawatts.
At the same time, the government is working to strengthen distributed generation by simplifying the connection of cogeneration plants, modular boiler rooms and gas power plants. Against the backdrop of the difficult situation in the energy sector, the president has declared a state of emergency, and Ukraine is initiating the convening of the so-called "Energy Ramstein" to attract additional international assistance. Germany has already allocated €60 million, and Norway $400 million to support the energy sector this winter.
