The EU has delivered 447 generators to Ukraine: the first batch is already in the Kyiv region
The European Union has transferred 447 emergency generators to Ukraine under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The first batch of 76 units has already arrived in the Kyiv region, as well as in Kyiv and Kropyvnytskyi. This was reported on 27 January during the transfer of equipment, according to Ukrinform.
European Union Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova noted that since the start of the full-scale invasion, more than 10,000 generators have been provided to Ukraine through European mechanisms. According to her, the current batch is important, but only part of a large-scale support package, the total volume of which has already reached €190 billion.
The second part of the generators will be evenly distributed among frontline communities that are most affected by Russian strikes on energy infrastructure. According to Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Marina Denysiuk, the state is paying special attention to large cities. In particular, Kyiv will receive two more powerful generators, which are currently on their way.
The Ukrainian Red Cross was responsible for delivering the equipment and is also assisting with installation where necessary. According to the organisation's Deputy Director General, Illia Kletskovskyi, applications have been received from more than 200 communities in 10 regions and the city of Kyiv, and work to meet these needs is ongoing.
