Kyiv received the first batch of generators from the EU to support heat supply
Kyiv has received its first batch of generators from the European Union, totalling 177 units. This was announced by Mayor Vitali Klitschko. According to him, the capital received 135 power sources with a capacity of 20 kW and 42 generators with a capacity of 22 kW.
The city plans to use this equipment primarily to connect to individual heating points in apartment buildings where such a connection is technically possible. This will allow heat to be supplied during power outages following massive shelling of critical infrastructure.
The generators were provided from the EU's strategic civil protection reserve rescEU through the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) at the Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (DG ECHO). Deliveries from the rescEU reserve are fully funded by the European Union and coordinated by the European Commission.
The city administration also reported that a second batch of aid is expected in the near future. It will include another 41 generators. Thus, the total amount of equipment that Kyiv will receive from the EU will reach 218 units.
The city authorities thanked their European partners for their timely support, which is critically important for the capital and the country as a whole in the context of the emergency caused by Russia's attacks on energy infrastructure.
