Klymenko: State Emergency Service rescuers are working as a single mechanism to eliminate the consequences of shelling
During the liquidation of the consequences of Russian shelling, units of the State Emergency Service perform extremely difficult tasks and work with maximum concentration. This was announced by Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko in an exclusive interview with RBC Ukraine.
According to him, during rescue and search operations, SES employees demonstrate a high level of mobilisation and clear coordination of actions. Newly formed teams of climbers, engineers, units with unmanned aerial vehicles and robotics, as well as sapper crews are working simultaneously at the sites of the strikes. All these services operate as a single mechanism, allowing for a rapid response to the consequences of the attacks.
Klymenko noted that Ukrainian rescuers have already become an example for their Western colleagues. Partners are interested in the unique experience and skills of the State Emergency Service, which were gained in the conditions of full-scale war and the constant threat of repeated strikes.
At the same time, the minister recalled the losses among the personnel. On 25 January, a climber died after falling from a height of 20 metres while working on an energy facility. The next day, 26 January, another rescuer suffered multiple injuries as a result of a repeated strike by a Russian drone on a high-rise building in Kyiv.
National Police officers are also involved in dealing with the aftermath of the shelling. They are evacuating the victims, securing the sites and helping to clear the rubble.
