Ihor Klymenko claims that Russia deliberately targets emergency services and civilian infrastructure
According to the Interior Minister's statement posted on his Telegram channel, rescuers from the State Emergency Service have already extinguished all the fires caused by the strikes, and the forces of the Interior Ministry system are working in strict coordination to overcome the consequences of the attack. Klymenko emphasised that at night Russia deliberately targeted civilian and critical facilities, trying to leave millions of people without electricity, heat and water in the freezing winter.
«The enemy's inhuman goal is to plunge the country into cold and darkness. This is a ruthless terror of the civilian population», the minister emphasised.
Almost 500 rescuers and about 100 pieces of equipment were involved in the aftermath of the attacks. If necessary, mobile heating stations are being deployed in the regions.
Klymenko also drew attention to the tactics of repeated attacks on the places of work of emergency services. In the Darnytsia district of Kyiv, the enemy struck a high-rise building for the second time at the very moment when rescuers and medics were working there. As a result, a medical worker was killed.
During the second attack, five rescuers of the State Emergency Service, four medical workers and a policeman were injured. «This is a deliberate attack on those who save lives and a deliberate attack on humanity by Russia», — the minister stressed.
The bodies of three people were found in the Dnipro district of Kyiv after an enemy drone hit. Two of them have already been identified, the third is being identified. Another person is still missing
In Kyiv region, the attacks covered almost all districts. Fires broke out in residential buildings and outbuildings in Brovary, Obukhiv and Boryspil districts.
Ihor Klymenko emphasised that despite the enemy's attempts to break the country, Ukraine will survive thanks to unity and mutual support. He thanked the rescuers, medics, police, power engineers and utilities who continue to work even under the threat of repeated attacks.
