King Charles III of the United Kingdom delivered a speech during the official opening of the new parliamentary session.

The speech took place at the Palace of Westminster.

In his speech, the monarch stated that the UK government would conduct foreign policy with the country’s national interests in mind.

Charles III made a special mention of Ukraine.

“He will continue to provide unwavering support to the courageous people of Ukraine, who are fighting on the front line for freedom,” the King said.

Charles III also emphasised that London would work to strengthen relations with its European partners.

The UK, he said, will continue to fulfil its commitments to NATO.

Separately, the King announced plans to increase defence spending.

The British government also intends to strengthen the country’s defences against cyber threats and foreign interference.

In his speech, Charles III announced that the G20 summit would be held in the UK in 2027.

At the end of April, during a visit to the US, the King had already expressed support for Ukraine and called for decisive action in support of Kyiv.

As reported by ThePublic, Prince Harry visited Bucha and paid tribute to the victims.
