Lithuania will produce weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and has transferred 90 generators to Ukraine
This was reported by The Public, citing a statement by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda and the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence.
Nausėda said that a corresponding agreement had been signed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to him, the production of weapons for Ukraine will be financed by the EU SAFE fund and other sources.
The Lithuanian president also said that the country had confirmed its commitment to allocate 0.25% of its gross domestic product annually to support Ukraine. In 2026, Lithuania plans to allocate €223 million for these purposes.
Lithuanian Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas said that the country will also transfer 30 missiles for the RBS-70 portable anti-aircraft missile system to Ukraine, designed to engage low-flying air targets.
In addition, he said that Lithuania had already transferred 90 generators worth more than €2 million to Ukraine this winter.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Defence said that it is also preparing to transfer additional energy equipment, including diesel generators, transformers and electric motors, to restore Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
