Sony Pictures Television is developing a miniseries about the journalistic investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein case. Laura Dern is set to star in the project, playing Miami Herald journalist Julie K. Brown.

This is according to Variety.

The upcoming series will be based on the book *Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story*, written by Julie K. Brown. It was her years-long investigation that brought renewed attention to the Epstein case and his deals with federal prosecutors. Laura Dern will portray Brown herself in the series.

The official description of the project calls it the story of a journalistic investigation that exposed Epstein’s secret deal with federal prosecutors. At the heart of the plot is Brown’s years-long work, which helped identify 80 victims, persuade key survivors to give public testimony, and ultimately led to the arrests of Epstein himself and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Who is working on the series and what is known about it

The screenplay is being adapted by Sharon Hoffman, known for “Mrs. America” and “House of Cards”. She will also serve as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Eileen Myers. Laura Dern, in addition to the lead role, will also be an executive producer. The production team includes Adam McKay and Kevin Messick from Hyperobject Industries, as well as Julie K. Brown herself.

The project has not yet secured a streaming platform. If the series goes into production, it will be the first fictionalised TV adaptation of the Epstein case. Previously, this topic has only appeared repeatedly in documentaries and series.

As a reminder, victims in the case of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have filed a class-action lawsuit against the administration of US President Donald Trump and Google over the disclosure of their personal data in the released files.
