Mercury in retrograde in June 2026: what tasks need to be completed
Mercury retrograde in June 2026 is an astrological period for reviewing plans and finalising important matters.
Mercury retrograde in June 2026 will begin on 29 June and last until 23 July. Astrologers advise completing important tasks by 18 June, as the so-called ‘shadow period’ begins before the retrograde phase.

In 2026, Mercury’s summer retrograde will begin on 29 June. This period will last until 23 July.

At the same time, astrologers draw attention not only to the retrograde motion itself, but also to the shadow period preceding it. This is estimated to begin on 12–13 June, so it is advisable to wrap up the most important matters by 18 June.

Why you should finish your business by 18 June

In astrology, Mercury is associated with documents, negotiations, travel, education, technology, correspondence, contracts and day-to-day arrangements.

During Mercury retrograde, these areas are considered more vulnerable. Delays, confusion, technical glitches, misunderstandings or the need to revisit old issues may arise more frequently.

That is why 18 June can be used as a handy deadline: it is best to complete tasks requiring precision, a quick response and clear agreements by this date.

What’s best to do in advance

Before 18 June, it is worth checking documents, settling important payments, agreeing on work deadlines, and confirming travel arrangements, bookings, and appointments with doctors or for official events.

If you’re planning to sign contracts, launch a project, make a major purchase or have an important conversation, it’s best not to leave it until the end of the month.

It’s also worth getting your tech ready: save important files, make backups, update your passwords and check that your phone, laptop and banking apps are working properly.

What you shouldn’t start during Mercury retrograde

During Mercury retrograde, astrologers advise against rushing into major new decisions.

This includes signing important contracts, buying expensive equipment, launching large-scale projects, making drastic decisions in relationships, or entering into agreements that lack clear written terms.

If it is impossible to postpone the matter, you should check documents carefully, set out agreements in writing and avoid making decisions under the influence of emotions.

Mercury Retrograde in Cancer

In June–July 2026, Mercury will be retrograde in the sign of Cancer. In astrology, this sign is associated with family, home, emotions, the past and issues of personal safety.

Therefore, during this period, old family issues, unfinished conversations or situations that have long required attention may resurface.

At the same time, this period can be useful for reviewing plans, tidying up at home, wrapping up old business and returning to conversations that were previously put on hold.

How to get through Mercury retrograde without panicking

Mercury retrograde shouldn’t be seen as a disaster. It’s more of a period when it’s better to take things slower, be more careful and not leave important matters until the last minute.

The main rule is to double-check everything, not to jump to conclusions, and not to base important decisions solely on emotions.
