Mudryk tops ESPN’s list of the worst Premier League transfers
This is according to an ESPN ranking.
ESPN has published a ranking of the 25 worst transfers in the history of the English Premier League. The list includes two Ukrainian footballers, with Mykhailo Mudryk taking the top spot in the anti-ranking.
The winger moved from Shakhtar to Chelsea in January 2023 for €70 million. This transfer remains the most expensive in the history of Ukrainian football. However, Mudryk has failed to establish himself as a key player at the London club. Furthermore, he has not played since December 2024 due to allegations of doping.
Andriy Shevchenko also made the list. The Ukrainian striker joined Chelsea in 2006, moving from Milan for almost €44 million. At the time, it was one of the most high-profile deals.
What the top 10 looks like
According to ESPN, the top ten worst transfers in Premier League history are as follows:

As a reminder, Ukrainian skier Viktoria Olekh, who competed at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, has been suspended for 10 months for breaching anti-doping rules. The NADC list states that canrenone was detected in her sample, and the suspension period runs from 18 March 2026 to 17 January 2027.
