Mudryk has been banned for four years: what is known about the doping case
This was reported by British journalist Ben Jacobs.
The Football Association has banned Ukrainian midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk of London’s Chelsea for four years.
He is accused of breaching anti-doping rules.
According to the source, Mudryk’s side lodged an appeal against the FA’s decision on 26 February.
It was the FA that heard the case at the first stage.
The case has now moved to the legal stage at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The parties are submitting written evidence and explanations.
The exact date of the hearing, at which the footballer will attempt to prove his innocence, will be determined later.
The doping scandal surrounding Mudryk began in December 2024.
The banned substance meldonium, which has been on the WADA list since 2016, was detected in the footballer’s system following the Nations League matches for the Ukrainian national team against Georgia and Albania.
In June 2025, the opening of the ‘B’ sample confirmed the preliminary results.
The situation remains critical for the Ukrainian winger.
A four-year ban is the maximum penalty for such a violation.
If the defence can prove that the substance entered his system unintentionally, the length of the ban may be reduced.
Mudryk himself categorically denies using doping.
The Ukrainian has not played in any official matches for almost a year and a half.
He last played on 28 November 2024 in Chelsea’s Conference League match against German side Heidenheim.
In that match, Mudryk scored a goal.
The footballer has been officially suspended from competition since 17 December 2024.
Before the break, Mudryk had played 73 matches for Chelsea.
He has 10 goals and 11 assists to his name.
As reported by ThePublic, Mudryk topped ESPN’s ranking of the worst Premier
League transfers. Follow us on Telegram
