Implementation of the School Offline project will allow more than 40 thousand children to return to full-time education

A large-scale construction of underground educational institutions is underway in Kharkiv region. According to First Lady Jelena Zelenska, who visited one of the new lyceums, the region has become a leader in Ukraine in creating safe infrastructure for education. A total of 43 underground schools are being built, five of which are being implemented with the support of The Howard G. Buffett Foundation in the Lozova and Blyzniukivska communities.

Zelenska stressed that underground schools should not be perceived as gloomy shelters. On the contrary, these protective structures allow you to maintain a normal rhythm of life. In underground classrooms, children can study full-time, communicate with friends, attend clubs and additional classes.

During the visit, the First Lady said that 466 students already attend one of these lyceums. The institution has five inclusive classes, classes are held in two shifts, and chess, drawing and vocal clubs operate after school hours. According to her, it is the sense of security that creates an atmosphere of comfort.

In the autumn, more than 50,000 children returned to offline or blended learning in Kharkiv region. After the construction of new underground schools is completed, the region will be able to reach an additional 40,000 students, providing them with a safe format of education in the face of Russia's constant attacks.
