The regional authorities of Kharkiv Oblast have declared a state of emergency in the energy sector due to constant Russian shelling and are initiating the region's accession to the state programme for energy security.

The Regional Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies has decided to declare the situation in the energy sector of the Kharkiv region a regional emergency. This was announced by the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleg Synyegubov.

According to him, the region is under constant enemy shelling, which significantly complicates the work of the energy infrastructure. Given the difficult situation, the authorities are also initiating an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers to include the Kharkiv region in the government's SvitloDim project.

Under the state programme, residents of frontline territories are given the opportunity to receive financial support to improve the energy sustainability of apartment buildings. The state provides assistance ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 hryvnias to associations of co-owners of apartment buildings, housing and service cooperatives, as well as building managers, regardless of the form of ownership.

The funds received can be used to purchase generators, batteries, inverters and other energy equipment that ensures the uninterrupted functioning of key life support systems. Applications can be submitted online via the Diya app, and they are reviewed and approved by a commission under the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.
