Oleg Bondarenko, a Member of Parliament from the “Servant of the People” party, declared 80 Bitcoin in his annual declaration. At current prices, this amounts to over $5.5 million, or nearly 243 million hryvnias, although the declaration itself states 79,930 hryvnias.

This is evidenced by Oleg Bondarenko’s annual declaration in the NACP register.

Oleg Bondarenko, who chairs the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management, submitted his annual declaration for 2025 on 27 March 2026. In the section on valuable movable property, he listed “Bitcoin digital cryptocurrency” in the amount of 80 units. The document also specifies the date of acquisition — 7 October 2013 — and the value on the date of acquisition: 79,930 UAH.

It was precisely this amount that sparked public questions, but formally speaking, this does not refer to the asset’s current market value. The NACP separately clarifies that cryptocurrency is stated in the declaration based on the actual costs of its acquisition. The agency emphasises: it is incorrect to use the market rate as at the end of the reporting period; one must specify the actual cost, and in the case of multiple transactions — the total value of the asset as at the date of the last transaction.

How much is it worth now

As of 6 April 2026, Bitcoin is trading at $69,488 per coin. Therefore, a holding of 80 BTC is worth approximately $5,559,040. At the official NBU exchange rate on the same date — 43.6549 UAH per dollar — this is approximately 242.7 million UAH. In other words, the market value of the declared crypto portfolio is now thousands of times greater than the amount stated in the ‘value on the date of acquisition’ column.

What else is in the declaration

In the same declaration, Bondarenko listed a loan of 1.8 million UAH to Ukrainian citizen Pavlo Butko. The liability is dated 9 January 2018, and the column for repayment of the principal amount of the debt for the reporting period shows zero. The amount of the liability at the end of the reporting period is also listed as 1.8 million UAH.

Among his cash assets, the MP declared 1 million UAH in cash, 28,000 US dollars in cash, 573,381 UAH in an account with JSC “Credit Agricole Bank”, 1,325 euros in the same bank, 5,436 UAH in an account with “PrivatBank”, as well as 250,000 UAH borrowed from Investplus LLC. The declaration also states separately that in 2025 he received 756,239 UAH in salary from the Administrative Office of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Ultimately, the main intrigue of this declaration lies not in the fact that the MP “hid” cryptocurrency, but in the fact that the Bitcoin portfolio purchased back in 2013 has risen to a value of almost 243 million UAH at current market prices. That said, the sum of 79,930 UAH in the declaration formally complies with NACP rules, provided this represents the actual cost at the time of purchasing 80 BTC.

It should be recalled that Yuriy Koryavchenkov, a Member of Parliament from the “Servant of the People” faction, known as an actor with the “Kvartal 95” studio and nicknamed Yuzik, left Ukraine for Spain following questioning by the NABU. According to him, he was on holiday.
