Germany to provide Ukraine with 33 mobile thermal power stations to strengthen its energy system
Germany will soon transfer 33 mobile combined heat and power plants to Ukraine. This was announced by German Ambassador to Ukraine Haiko Toms in an interview with Suspilne.
According to him, one such mobile unit can provide heat and electricity to tens of thousands of people. In total, 33 power plants are capable of meeting the needs of millions of consumers. The main challenge remains their rapid connection to the grid, but the German and Ukrainian sides will work to do this as quickly as possible.
The ambassador stressed that Germany is already Ukraine's largest partner in the energy sector. In addition to mobile thermal power plants, Berlin is providing generators, energy storage systems, transport for repair work, and modular boiler rooms with a total capacity of 16 megawatts.
Toms stressed that Russia's night air attacks on Ukraine are war crimes and are aimed solely at terrorising the civilian population. He assured that Ukraine will continue to receive the necessary support.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba announced that, following the G7+ energy summit in Ramstein, international partners would provide Ukraine with more than $500 million in humanitarian aid for the energy sector. The United States is allocating more than $400 million, Germany €60 million, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands €23 million each, and Italy €10 million.
During January, partners have already delivered or committed to deliver nearly 1,200 generators of various capacities to Ukraine, as well as transformers, cogeneration units, and high-power boilers.
