Germany has deployed Eurofighters to Poland to strengthen NATO's eastern flank
Since December 6, German Eurofighter Typhoon fighters have begun combat duty at the 22nd Air Base in Malbork (Poland). About 150 military personnel — pilots, technicians, logisticians, guards, and military police — have joined the airspace patrol mission on NATO's eastern flank.
The aircraft took off from the German Nörvenich Air Base — this decision by Berlin, made back in October, was a direct response to recent violations of NATO airspace by Russia, including the flight of Russian drones and military aircraft.
The task of the German pilots is to ensure continuous patrols, rapid interception, and response to potential threats. According to reports, the aircraft will be based in Poland at least until the end of March 2026.
In the context of escalating security tensions in Europe, this step underscores NATO countries' readiness to effectively respond to provocations and defend the sovereignty of allies. At the same time, it is a signal of support for Poland and all countries on the Alliance's eastern flank.
