Odesa agro-trader returns over UAH 14.5 million of unpaid taxes to the budget
An agro-trader from Odesa region has reimbursed over UAH 14.5 million of unpaid taxes to the state budget following an investigation by the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine.
According to detectives of the territorial department of the ESBU in Odesa region, the offenders tried to illegally export soybeans using forged documents on their origin. In this way, the company created the appearance of legal business operations and planned to export about 7.5 thousand tonnes of soya beans to Turkey and Romania.
The investigation revealed that the export of products with unconfirmed origin was carried out through supply chains with fictitious enterprises and individual entrepreneurs. As a result of these actions, the state did not receive UAH 14.5 million in taxes, which is classified as an amount in particularly large amounts.
During the searches at the Odesa seaport and grain terminals in Chernivtsi region, detectives seized more than 6,000 tonnes of soybeans already loaded on a ship, as well as another 1,600 tonnes in 32 railway wagons. The total value of the seized agricultural products exceeds UAH 103 million.
The company voluntarily reimbursed the entire amount of unpaid taxes, the funds have already been transferred to the budget. The pre-trial investigation under part three of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is ongoing. Law enforcement officers are identifying the full range of persons involved in the illegal activity. Procedural supervision is provided by the Odesa Region Prosecutor's Office.
