The Dnipro District Court of Kyiv has sentenced the former head of the Education Department of the Dnipro District State Administration to seven years in prison. She was found guilty of embezzling public funds during the 2023 procurement of vegetable cutters and chairs for school shelters.

This was reported by the Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office.

Her name has not been disclosed, but Olga Drozdova held this post at the time.

The court established that the official had overpaid by more than 460,000 hryvnias for vegetable cutters. In relation to this incident, she was found guilty under Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation of property) and sentenced to five years’ imprisonment.

In the case concerning the procurement of chairs for school shelters, investigators established that the education department had overpaid by almost 1.35 million hryvnias. In this case, the official was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation on an especially large scale).

The final sentence is seven years’ imprisonment, a three-year ban on holding certain positions, and confiscation of property.

The court also upheld civil claims for the amount of damages caused, filed by prosecutors in the interests of the state.

Drozdova was placed under night-time house arrest back in 2023. And in September 2025, it emerged that she had left the country “for medical treatment and due to fears for her life because of the state of war”.

As a reminder, it was previously reported that the assets of the “Kyiv Radio Plant” were illegally sold for more than 20 times less than their market value.
