Pavlo Palisa stated that the age of conscription will not be lowered for the time being
Pavlo Palisa made this statement in an interview with Channel 24.
Conscription age and the departure of men aged 18–24
Deputy Head of the President’s Office and Brigadier General Pavlo Palisa stated that the issue of lowering the conscription age in Ukraine is not currently under consideration.
Similarly, he said, the authorities are not discussing restrictions on travel abroad for men aged 18–24.
“At present, the issue of lowering the conscription age and restricting travel abroad is not being considered. Everything will depend on the situation at the front, but at this point the issue is not being considered, nor is it even being raised at the level of risk assessment,” Palisa said.
Mobilisation of women
Palisa also stated that there is currently no question of compulsory mobilisation of women.
According to him, service for women remains voluntary, and they can sign a contract on standard terms.
“No, there is no talk of mobilising women at the moment. It is a voluntary matter. Women, just like men, can sign a contract on standard terms,” said the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office.
What is known about the terms of the contracts
Palis was also asked whether simplified terms or short-term contracts were being considered for women.
In response, he stated that in the programme being prepared by the Ministry of Defence, the general terms for men and women “will be sufficiently attractive”.
