The system brings together dozens of tools for detecting and destroying aerial targets
Українська компанія Contra Drone представила комплексну систему протидії безпілотникам, яка об'єднує понад 20 оборонних рішень. Новітню архітектуру захисту протестували під час закритого польового заходу Demo Day.

The Ukrainian company Contra Drone has unveiled a new multi-layered anti-drone system that combines over 20 technological solutions. The system was tested during a closed-door field event, Demo Day, where its capabilities in countering various types of UAVs – from small FPV drones to reconnaissance aircraft – were demonstrated.

Mini air defence system for shooting down FPV drones

The main highlight of the presentation was the automated MADS (Mini Air Defence System) complex. It is designed to detect, track and intercept small aerial targets (FPV drones, quadcopters and flying wings) travelling at speeds of up to 300 km/h.

The system operates in fully automatic mode and is capable of destroying targets at ranges and altitudes of up to 1,000 metres in all weather conditions without operator intervention. The system’s interceptor missiles can be fitted with fragmentation, thermobaric or net warheads.

Also during this session, the following were demonstrated to military and international partners:

  • the SPECTRE electronic intelligence system;
  • the compact SENSE-3 and SENSE-4 FPV drone detectors;
  • the all-weather CD-T15 radar system, capable of tracking over 300 targets at a range of up to 22 km.

Trench-based electronic warfare and protection for troops

The second part of the demonstration focused on the personal protection of service personnel on the front line. Experts tested the D-JACK device in action, which automatically detects remote controls using the ELRS protocol and carries out targeted electronic countermeasures against them.

In addition, the developers showcased the Contra-drone Anti-fpv BackPack 3, which creates a personal safety dome whilst on the move, the ‘Anti-Mavic’ mast-mounted system, and a special protective suit made from Rip-Stop fabric, which shields electronic warfare operators from electromagnetic radiation.

Stationary systems and vehicle-mounted electronic warfare

To protect infrastructure and logistics, the company has developed vehicle-mounted and stationary systems. These include the directional “Phantom” system, the versatile “Boombox” and the “NACPOL” covert installation system for integration into civilian vehicles.

During a road test, the flagship Contra-drone 8 Ultra system was deployed on a vehicle, demonstrating the jamming of the full spectrum of digital and analogue communication channels used by enemy UAVs.

Robotic platforms and drones with artificial intelligence

In the final part of the event, the high-speed autonomous interceptor drone ‘Peace Duck’, featuring integrated artificial intelligence, was presented. The drone can independently, without operator intervention in the final stage, destroy Russian reconnaissance UAVs such as the ‘Orlan’ or Zala.

Alongside it, the Yell Duck range of strike FPV drones was demonstrated, as well as the Blackwing and Black Goose unmanned wings designed for operation in GPS-denied environments, and the Nyvexa ground-based electronic warfare logistics platform. The highlight of the event was a live, real-time interception of an aerial target.

As Maxim Matskulyak, Commercial Director of Fly Group Ukraine, noted, it is precisely the ability to integrate various technologies into a single system that provides an advantage on the battlefield – a system that quickly detects a threat, analyses it and ensures an effective response.
