Peskov’s wife has filed a lawsuit against the EU sanctions
This is reported by Reuters.
Tetyana Navka was added to the EU sanctions list in June 2022. Peskov’s daughter, Elizaveta, and son, Mykola, had previously been included on the same list.
Brussels stated at the time that the sanctions, which included a ban on entry to the EU and financial restrictions, were imposed “in connection with actions that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine”.
In her legal claim, Navka argues that the grounds for imposing restrictions on her were not properly set out, and also states that the EU has failed to establish a sufficient link between her and the stated purpose of its sanctions.
Peskov’s wife is therefore demanding that the Council of the European Union compensate her for financial losses, as well as for damage to her reputation and other non-pecuniary losses, totalling just over 2 million euros.
It should be recalled that it was previously reported that the EU may abandon large-scale sanctions packages against Russia.
