Peskov commented on the Ukrainian president’s order regarding the parade
According to Peskov, Russia does not need “anyone’s permission” to hold the event.
Peskov commented on the situation against the backdrop of the ceasefire agreements
“Woe betide anyone who tries to make light of Victory Day. That’s their problem. And we don’t need anyone’s permission,” he said.
The day before, the text of Ukrainian Presidential Decree No. 374/2026 appeared online. It referred to the holding of a parade in Moscow on 9 May 2026 and the temporary exclusion of the Red Square area from the plan for the use of Ukrainian weapons.
We would like to remind you that US President Donald Trump stated that Ukraine and Russia had agreed to a temporary three-day ceasefire. According to him, the truce will be in effect on 9, 10 and 11 May. Trump announced this on the social media platform Truth Social. He noted that he had personally put forward the initiative, and that Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin had supported the proposal. According to the US leader, the agreement provides for a complete cessation of hostilities during the truce, as well as a large-scale prisoner exchange on a “1,000 for 1,000” basis. Trump added that negotiations to end the war are ongoing, and expressed hope that this could mark “the beginning of the end” of the full-scale conflict.
