AI tree pruning in Lviv
A resident of Lviv contacted the city’s hotline to request that a tree be pruned. He was sent a photograph of the work already carried out, but it turned out to have been generated by artificial intelligence.

This was reported by Lviv City Council.

As explained by Halyna Narivna, head of the Frankivsk District Administration, the incident occurred due to a mix-up.

Apparently, upon receiving the complaint, a district administration employee promptly contacted the contractor. The contractor sent an AI visualisation of what the tree would look like after the work requested by the resident — as an example of why this particular approach should not be taken.

However, the administration employee mistakenly interpreted this image as confirmation that the work had been carried out and forwarded it as a response to the hotline. The reply with the AI image sparked discussion on social media. The official was given a reprimand for this mistake.

The city council emphasises that this is the first such case in the entire history of the hotline. They promise to look into the complaint — in the coming days, specialists from the ecology department will visit the site together with a contractor to determine what work is actually necessary there.
