The cause remains unknown: Ukrainians have been warned of explosions caused by 'suicide bombers' that survived the crash
This was reported by Serhiy (Flash) Beskrestnov, an adviser to the Ukrainian Minister of Defence.
According to him, five people have already been killed in such explosions — these were local residents who had come to the crash site.
“At present, we do not know the cause of what is happening. I urge local residents not to approach the wreckage of the ‘suicide drones’ even if an explosion occurred during the crash. I ask the police and the State Emergency Service to take note of this information,” Beskrestnov urged.
Just yesterday, it emerged that four people had been killed in the Zolotonosha district of the Cherkasy region. According to law enforcement officials, local residents approached the intact Russian drone “out of curiosity” and it detonated.
Law enforcement and rescue services emphasise: any debris from UAVs, missiles or other explosive objects poses a deadly threat.
It is strictly forbidden:
- approach the crash site of a UAV;
- touching the debris;
- photographing or filming them at close range;
- moving any parts of the object.
If a dangerous object is found, you must:
- move to a safe distance (at least 100–200 m);
- warn others;
- contact the police or the State Emergency Service on 101 or 102;
- wait for the emergency services to arrive.
Important to remember! Even after a UAV has crashed, an unexploded warhead may remain. A delayed detonation of the explosive mechanism is also possible. Debris may also be dangerous due to the presence of explosive components.
“Curiosity in such cases costs lives. Do not put yourself or those around you in danger,” urged the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
