PrivatBank has added a new tool for automating payments to its Privat24 mobile app – the IBAN scanner.

The bank noted that the technology is designed to simplify the process of making payments using account details, minimising manual data entry and the risk of errors.

The new feature works using automatic text recognition algorithms.

Users simply need to point their smartphone camera at the account number on a receipt, statement or even on the screen of another device. The system then instantly recognises the 29-digit code and automatically fills in the payment form.

To use the new option, in the Privat24 app, go to the “Payments” – “By details” section and tap the scanner icon in the input field.

The bank added that the new feature will be useful for paying for utilities, taxes, services or transfers to sole traders.

As a reminder, PrivatBank changed its cash withdrawal rules on 1 March. You can withdraw up to 20,000 hryvnias via an ATM within a 3-hour period.
