Rocket attack on Uman: six wounded, including two children
In the city of Uman, Russian troops launched a missile attack on a residential area on 26 December. The attack injured six people, including two children. All the victims received the necessary medical care, their injuries were not serious.
The information was provided by the head of the Cherkasy regional military administration Ihor Taburets. According to him, all specialised services have been working at the scene since the first quarter of the day, and the main injuries are related to shrapnel wounds and acute stress reaction.
Uman Mayor Iryna Pletniova reported significant damage to residential infrastructure. Roofs of houses were damaged, windows were smashed, doors and private property of residents were destroyed. By the end of the day, the city council plans to hold an extraordinary session to allocate funds for materials for priority reconstruction work, including OSB boards and protective film.
The city is setting up an assistance headquarters and a commission to record the damage. Residents whose homes have been damaged are encouraged to come to inspect the damage and draw up reports. Those who are temporarily unable to live in their own homes are promised to be provided with housing through the social security system.
Police investigative teams, forensic experts and explosives experts are also working at the site. According to Zoya Vovk, a spokeswoman for the Cherkasy regional police, law enforcement officers are documenting the consequences of the shelling and helping citizens whose property was damaged.
Air alert was announced in the region at 11:11. An increased missile threat in the Uman district was reported at 11:23, and an explosion in the city occurred at 11:32 after the Air Force reported a high-speed target in the direction of Uman.
