Rebrov has decided not to leave the Ukraine national team following their failure to qualify
Serhiy Rebrov has no plans to step down as head coach of the Ukraine national team following the side’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
According to journalists, the current manager of the ‘blue and yellows’ will continue to work with the team. It is likely that the national team will play the friendly matches scheduled for June under his leadership.
What is known about the situation
TaToTake reports that Rebrov’s contract with the Ukrainian Football Association runs until the end of July 2026. This contradicts the coach’s previous statement, in which he said the deal was set to expire by early summer.
In June, the Ukrainian national team plans to play at least one friendly match. Denmark is said to be the likely opponent. According to the source, this team also failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, losing to the Czech Republic in a penalty shoot-out in the play-off final.
It is for this match, it is claimed, that the Ukrainian team is set to take to the field under Rebrov’s leadership.
At the same time, the possibility of the current coach stepping down has not been completely ruled out. However, according to journalists, UAF President Andriy Shevchenko allegedly does not wish to be the one to initiate such a decision.
Earlier, journalist Viktor Vatsko also reported that Rebrov intends to keep his job with the Ukraine national team. According to him, the coach is even prepared to accept a pay cut after the team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
