Russia has struck a nursery in Sumy; rescue workers are on the scene (updated)
A series of explosions was heard in Sumy on 6 May during an air raid alert. Prior to this, monitoring channels had reported a threat of drones being deployed in the Sumy district and had detected them moving towards the city.
According to eyewitnesses, smoke rose above the scene following the explosions. There were also reports of further explosions and new drones heading towards Sumy.
Subsequently, reports emerged of a strike on a nursery school. A fire broke out at the scene. All necessary services are on the ground, and the evacuation of people is ongoing.
According to preliminary data, people may be trapped under the rubble. Official details regarding the consequences are being clarified.
Traffic in the city has been partially restricted. In particular, P. Pavlivska Street has been closed to traffic, and public transport is diverting its routes.
