Russia expands cooperation with India — joint production of drones Institute for the Study of War (ISW)
Russia has initiated a new phase of cooperation with India aimed at the joint production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other military equipment. According to researchers, this step is part of Moscow's efforts to strengthen its military-industrial capabilities amid the ongoing war with Ukraine. This is reported in the ISW report.
The cooperation involves not only technical exchange but also production — new UAVs can be delivered to the Russian Federation much faster than under the old import model. This strategy gives the aggressor an advantage in a gruelling long-term campaign, forcing the Ukrainian Armed Forces to reallocate resources to air defence and anti-drone systems.
Analysts note that although India officially takes a restrained position, this cooperation could significantly change the balance of power — if new drones begin to arrive in Russia on a regular basis, this will strengthen its striking power.
At the same time, such cooperation heightens international concern — there are more new suppliers for Russia that could influence the course of the war. The consequences for Ukraine are the risk of more frequent shelling and the need to improve its defences.
