Rome is preparing to welcome them: Italy has announced a meeting between Meloni and Zelenskyy
Next week, Rome will become the focal point of Ukrainian-Italian diplomatic relations. Despite the usual secrecy surrounding the Head of State’s foreign visits, an announcement regarding a meeting between Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appeared on the Italian government’s official website. The visit is scheduled for Wednesday, 15 April
A diplomatic ‘announcement’ from Rome
Information about the upcoming talks appeared on the Italian government’s public agenda. The meeting is scheduled to take place at 15:30 local time (16:30 Kyiv time) at the Prime Minister’s residence — Palazzo Chigi.
It is worth noting that the Office of the President of Ukraine has not yet confirmed the trip. Usually, the Ukrainian side announces such visits on the day of the event itself or, for security reasons, only after crossing the border.
Context
Giorgia Meloni has repeatedly emphasised that support for Ukraine is a priority for her cabinet. This visit could serve as further confirmation of the stability of the Italian-Ukrainian partnership against the backdrop of the complex challenges of 2026.
