The attack began in the early hours of the morning. At around 02:00, the radars of the Romanian Ministry of National Defence (MApN) detected groups of drones approaching the country’s airspace in the Tulcea county area. In response to the threat, two Royal Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets, operating as part of NATO’s enhanced air policing mission, were scrambled from the 86th Air Base in Fetești.
At 02:14, residents of the towns of Grindu and Isaccea received alerts via the RO-ALERT system. The fighter pilots confirmed radar contact with targets in the area of the Ukrainian town of Reni, where explosions were heard at the time. According to available data, one of the drones was detected just 1.5 km from the border.
