Ukraine's Security Service destroys two Russian Su-27s at Belbek airfield in Crimea
Ukraine's Security Service has struck a new blow against Russia's military infrastructure in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The long-range drones of the Alpha Special Operations Centre hit two Su 27 fighters on the territory of the Belbek military airfield.
According to available information, one of the aircraft was on the taxiway with a full complement of ammunition and was ready for a combat mission. It was completely destroyed in the attack. The second Su 27 was also damaged. The estimated cost of the two aircraft is around USD 70 million.
In addition, the airfield control tower was confirmed to be damaged, which significantly complicates the coordination of flights and control of enemy aircraft in this area.
This is the second successful SBU attack on the Belbek airfield in recent days. On 18 December, Ukrainian drones destroyed hundreds of millions of dollars worth of Russian air defence and aviation equipment, including radar stations, anti-aircraft systems and a MiG 31 combat aircraft with a full complement of ammunition.
The SBU notes that systematic strikes on key military airfields and air defence facilities of the Russian Federation in Crimea significantly reduce the enemy's offensive capabilities in the region. Such operations will continue in the future.
