Syrsky held talks with the commanders-in-chief of the Coalition countries on security guarantees
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi took part in a regular meeting of the commanders-in-chief of the armed forces of the Coalition of the Willing member states. The meeting was held in the format of a video conference, Syrskyi said on Sunday, 18 January.
Together with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Hnatov, the parties discussed the formats of partners' participation in the implementation of international security guarantees for Ukraine. According to the Commander-in-Chief, Russia is not showing any willingness to end the war and continues to terrorise the civilian population, which requires further strengthening of sanctions pressure on the aggressor state. The goal is to make the cost of continuing the war unbearable for the Russian economy.
The participants paid special attention to the issue of continued military assistance to Ukraine as a key condition for maintaining the combat capability of the Defence Forces and their ability to continue to inflict significant losses on the enemy on the battlefield. The importance of jointly strengthening the defence industrial complexes and armed forces of the countries of free Europe was also emphasised.
Syrsky thanked the organisers of the meeting, French Armed Forces Commander Fabien Mandon and British Chief of Defence Staff Richard Knight. He addressed special words of gratitude to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Commander of the United States Armed Forces in Europe Alex Grinkevich, and the Chairman of the EU Military Committee Sean Clancy. According to Syrsky, their participation is a testament to transatlantic unity and unwavering support for Ukraine on its path to a just peace.
