Skorokhod claims NABU photos are fake and accuses authorities of political pressure
People's Deputy Anna Skorokhod accused NABU of falsifying materials in a case regarding possible involvement in a corruption scheme. After searches, law enforcement officers released photos showing large sums of cash in residential premises. The politician states that these photos were not taken in her apartment.
According to Skorokhod, images of "someone else's kitchen and bedroom" were circulated online. To prove this, she recorded a video tour of her own residence and claims that the interiors in the photos do not match. "I do not have that kitchen, I do not have that tile, and the money in the photos is not mine," said the deputy. She emphasizes that "everything was turned upside down" in her apartment, but nothing was found, so, in her opinion, the news was deliberately amplified with fakes.
Skorokhod also stated that the audio recordings released by investigators are "montages and cutouts from the context." She confirmed that she received suspicion, but emphasizes that she has not been arrested and is ready to cooperate with the investigation. "I have nothing to hide. I will demand a full investigation of this provocation," the deputy said.
The politician links the searches to her business trip to the USA. According to her, the actions of the law enforcement agencies "strangely coincided" with preparations for international meetings. She considers this an attempt to sabotage her visit and calls the situation "political pressure."
Earlier, NABU reported the uncovering of a group that, according to investigators, offered businesses $250,000 to facilitate sanctions against a competitor. The first installment of $125,000 was allegedly received, but they failed to transfer the bribe to officials. According to investigators, Skorokhod was the guarantor of the deal and the organizer of the scheme. She, her assistant, and another suspect received suspicion notices.
