Soldiers are promised pay rises: who will be affected
Servicemen are being promised a substantial pay rise,
In Ukraine, military personnel are being promised a substantial pay rise, particularly for those serving in infantry units on the front line.

Mykola Knyazhitsky, a Member of Parliament for “European Solidarity”, made this statement on Radio NV.

Knyazhitsky stated that the government is promising pay rises for military personnel and describes them as “quite substantial”.

According to him, the increase will vary depending on where the serviceman is stationed.

Who is eligible for a pay rise

The MP said that the largest pay rise is promised to those serving in infantry units on the front line.

He said that for this category of military personnel, pay could rise “significantly, by a factor of several times”.

Knyazhitsky also noted that pay rises are also promised to those serving in the rear. According to him, these increases should also be substantial.

Where the funds are to be sourced

Knyazhitsky stated that the authorities say they have an understanding of where to find the funds for the pay rises for military personnel.

However, he did not specify any particular sources of funding. Therefore, this refers specifically to stated intentions, rather than an already approved payment mechanism.

The MP also pointed out that, in addition to requirements regarding budget funding, the agreements with partners include requirements for democratisation, transparency and the rule of law.

In his view, it will be more difficult for the authorities to implement this part than to reach an agreement with the opposition on voting for tax decisions.
