Denis Shtilerman, co-owner of Fire Point, stated at a meeting of the Temporary Investigative Commission that the company is working on the Freya project – an air defence system designed to intercept ballistic missiles.

This was announced by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko on Telegram following the TSK meeting.

Fire Point co-owner Denis Shtilerman stated during the TSC meeting that the company is working on the Freya project.

According to him, it is a cheaper alternative to the Patriot.

The current status of development is the testing of prototypes.

Shtilerman stated that if the work progresses successfully, the first interceptions could take place by the end of the year.

“If all goes well, we will have the first interceptions by the end of the year,” Oleksiy Honcharenko quoted Shtilerman as saying.

What is known about the project

According to Stilerman, Freya is a pan-European project involving many countries.

The aim of the project is to develop an air defence system capable of shooting down ballistic missiles.

Goncharenko noted that the Patriot currently performs this function.

Earlier, Fire Point had already presented the concept of the Freya anti-missile system, which it plans to develop jointly with European manufacturers.

Statements regarding the Anti-Corruption Centre and documentation

During the TSK meeting, according to Goncharenko, Stilerman also stated that the Anti-Corruption Centre had allegedly received design documentation and distributed it to some foreign embassies.

Goncharenko added that representatives of the ACC had already been invited to the TSC meeting, but, according to him, the ACC’s executive director, Daria Kalenyuk, was on holiday at the time.

The sale of Fire Point and the AMCU

Stilerman also stated that the sale of Fire Point to representatives of Arab countries is currently under consideration by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine.

Separately, he said that the deal to sell the company to Timur Mindich did not go ahead because Fire Point was valued at $2.4 billion, which, according to Stilerman, Mindich did not have.

Explanation regarding the NSDC and the Central Bank

Stilman also explained his previous statement regarding his participation in the NSDC meeting.

According to Goncharenko, in response to a request from Ukrayinska Pravda, the NSDC stated that Stilerman had not attended the National Security and Defence Council meeting.

Stilman himself stated that these were preparatory meetings at which manufacturers were gathered ahead of the meeting with the President.

He also confirmed that he was present at the meeting with the President alongside other manufacturers.

Agreement with the UAE and the spaceport

Separately, Shtilerman stated that the agreement with the UAE regarding the sale of Fire Point is structured in such a way that he receives a cash-out and invests the funds in a joint venture with the UAE to build a spaceport in that country.

According to him, he needs to obtain government approval for this.

Umerov and the Freya programme

Stilerman also reported that he last spoke to Rustem Umerov by telephone on the eve of the meeting.

According to him, Umerov heads the Freya programme on the Ukrainian side.
