The legal battle between former celebrity couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt over the French winery Château Miraval has taken a new turn.

Jolie wins court case against Pitt

The judge dismissed a motion by 62-year-old Brad Pitt, who had sought to compel 50-year-old Jolie to grant access to her private email correspondence.

The documents in question relate to the sale of her stake in the Château Miraval winery in 2021.

Pitt insisted that these emails, including the actress’s correspondence with her business manager, publicists and financial advisers, were not covered by legal privilege.

However, the judge ruled that the actor had not provided sufficient evidence to override this protection.

The actress’s lawyer, Paul Murphy, called the decision “a significant victory”. According to him, Pitt initially demanded 126 documents, then reduced his request to 22, but ultimately received “zero”.

Jolie’s team claims this is yet another attempt by the actor to control her communications.

The crux of the conflict between Jolie and Pitt

The legal battle over the Miraval estate has been ongoing since 2022. Brad Pitt filed a lawsuit against Jolie, accusing her of selling her stake in Tenute del Mondo (the wine division of the Stoli Group) without his consent.

The actor claims that they had an agreement not to sell their shares in the business without each other’s consent.

Angelina Jolie denies the existence of such an agreement. She has filed a counterclaim, stating that Pitt is waging a “vindictive war” against her.

The correspondence the actor sought to obtain, in his view, could have proven that the sale was a deliberate move to harm his interests and the winery’s operations.
