Svitolina advances to the round of 16 at the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells
Ukraine's top tennis player Elina Svitolina continues her successful performance at the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells (USA) with a prize fund of almost $9.5 million. The Ukrainian has advanced to the 1/8 finals of the competition. This was reported by the WTA.
In the third round match, Svitolina, who is ranked ninth in the world, defeated Ashlyn Krueger (No. 82 WTA) of the USA in one hour. The match ended with a victory for the Ukrainian tennis player in two sets — 6:4, 6:2.
In the next round of the tournament, Svitolina will face Czech tennis player Katerina Siniakova, who is currently ranked 44th in the WTA rankings.
This is the Ukrainian's twelfth appearance at the Indian Wells tournament. She achieved her best result seven years ago when she reached the semi-finals, and last season she stopped at the quarter-final stage.
The competition in Indian Wells, California, will continue until 15 March.
