Switzerland thrashed Bosnia and Herzegovina to top Group B at the 2026 World Cup
The Swiss national team beat Bosnia and Herzegovina in their second Group B match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The match at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, USA, ended in a 4–1 victory for Switzerland.
Neither side managed to break the deadlock in the first half.
After the break, the Swiss stepped up their attack and took the lead in the 74th minute. Johan Manzambi, who had come on three minutes earlier, opened the scoring with a precise strike.
In the 80th minute, Bosnia and Herzegovina were reduced to ten men. Tarik Muharemović was shown a straight red card for a last-ditch foul on Breel Embolo near the penalty area.
Murat Yakin’s side capitalised on their numerical advantage as early as the 84th minute. Ruben Vargas doubled Switzerland’s lead with a first-time shot low into the right-hand corner.
In the 90th minute, the Swiss made the scoreline a rout. Manzambi scored his second after a pass from Rubén Vargas.
In the 90+3rd minute, the Bosnians pulled one back. Ermin Mahmić scored a consolation goal.
The final score was set in stoppage time. In the 90+6th minute, Granit Xhaka converted a penalty to secure a 4–1 victory for Switzerland.
Following this match, Switzerland have four points and sit top of Group B on their own. Bosnia and Herzegovina have one point.
In the third round, Switzerland will face Canada, whilst Bosnia and Herzegovina will take on Qatar. Both matches will take place on 24 June at 22:00 Kyiv time.
