Taiwan says it is ready to respond quickly to a surprise Chinese attack
Taiwan's armed forces have all the necessary capabilities to respond immediately to a possible surprise attack from China. This was reported by the Taiwanese Ministry of Defence, commenting on the situation with China's growing military presence in the region. It is reported by The Public with reference to Reuters.
The ministry noted that the army is on constant combat alert and closely monitors the movements of Chinese troops, aircraft and navy near the island. Particular attention is paid to scenarios of sudden actions that could begin without warning.
According to the Taiwanese defence ministry, during 2025, China significantly stepped up military exercises near the island, regularly involving dozens of combat aircraft and ships. In response, Taiwan has strengthened its early warning system, intelligence, and rapid response forces capable of acting in the first hours of a possible conflict.
Taiwanese authorities emphasise that the main goal of the defence strategy is to deter and prevent escalation, while the army is ready to defend the island in case of a threat to its security and sovereignty.
