Ten hospitals have launched solar power stations as part of the ‘Ray of Hope’ project
This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
Between January and mid-May 2026, as part of the ‘Ray of Hope’ project, 10 healthcare facilities began generating their own electricity.
The total installed capacity of the solar power stations that have already been commissioned is 770 kW.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the launch of in-house power generation at 10 healthcare facilities was made possible thanks to international support. Specifically, nine facilities were funded by Germany, and one more with support from Sweden.
What stage are the other projects at?
Currently, a further 94 facilities are at various stages of implementation.
A further three healthcare facilities are in the final stage.
In addition, 141 healthcare facilities are at the stage of developing technical solutions.
What does the ‘Ray of Hope’ project entail?
The “Ray of Hope” programme is a joint initiative of the European Commission, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
It is being implemented under the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, coordinated by the Energy Community Secretariat.
The aim of the programme is to improve the energy resilience of healthcare facilities. To this end, hospitals are being equipped with solar panels, energy storage systems and other equipment.
Such equipment is intended to guarantee a power supply and the uninterrupted operation of medical facilities even under difficult conditions.
