The Ministry of Defence has denied Fedienko’s claim regarding new registers of conscripts
The Ministry of Defence made this statement in a comment to INSIDER UA. Prior to this, Oleksandr Fedienko, a Member of Parliament and member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence, spoke on the ‘Espreso’ TV channel about the reform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which concerns mobilisation, demobilisation, pay, and the transfer of military personnel and reservists.
The Ministry of Defence denied reports of the creation of new registers of conscripts following MP Oleksandr Fedienko’s statement on the reform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The ministry stated that the Ministry of Defence is not creating any new registers of conscripts.
“The only state register in this area is ‘Oberig’. We ask the media and the public to rely solely on official information,” the Ministry of Defence said in a comment to INSIDER UA.
What Fedienko said prior to this
Prior to this, Fedienko spoke on “Espreso” about the reform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which, according to him, should address mobilisation, demobilisation, pay, the transfer of military personnel between units, and the issue of the Special Forces.
The MP stated that the aim of the reform is to increase mobilisation, reduce the number of cases of unauthorised absence from unit, increase payments to military personnel, and allow transfers from one brigade to another within the same corps without the commander’s approval.
According to him, transfers between different corps must be subject to approval.
Contracts and pay for military personnel
Fedyenko also spoke about contracts for serving military personnel, primarily for infantrymen who have been on the front line for a long time.
According to the MP, such servicemen may be offered ten-month contracts. For newly recruited servicemen, he said, the term would be 14 months.
Fedyenko stated that all military personnel will have the right to sign such contracts. He also cited indicative payment amounts: the average could be around 300,000 UAH, with a maximum of up to 460,000 UAH.
What is “Oberig”?
On the Ministry of Defence’s official website, “Oberig” is defined as the single state electronic register of conscripts, those liable for military service and reservists. It is the data from this register that powers modern services for citizens, in particular the Reserve+ app. Following the circulation of information about possible new registers,
the Ministry of Defence emphasised that no such registers are being created, and that people should rely on official announcements.
