Investigative activities by the SBU
On the morning of 20 May, searches began at the regional headquarters of the National Police in the Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zhytomyr regions

On the morning of 20 May, searches began at the regional headquarters of the National Police in the Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zhytomyr regions. The information, along with photographs, was published on Telegram channels.

This is likely to be a large-scale anti-corruption operation being carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine.

Some Telegram channels also report the detention of several high-ranking officials whilst receiving unlawful benefits.

According to the published information, all those involved have allegedly been charged under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Among those named in the reports are:

  • V.V. Vorobey, assistant to Deputy Minister of the Interior Teterya
  • S.V. Bezpalko, Chief of Police of the Ivano-Frankivsk region
  • V.V. Yatsyuk, Deputy Chief of Police of the Ivano-Frankivsk region
  • First Deputy Head of the Investigative Department of the Ternopil Regional Police, A.B. Tkachyk
  • I.D. Hulevaty, Deputy Chief of Police of Zhytomyr Region

There is currently no official information from law enforcement agencies.
