Public transport in Kyiv
There are plans in Kyiv to increase public transport fares from 8 to 30 hryvnias. The new fares are scheduled to come into effect on 15 July 2026.

This was announced by the Kyiv City State Administration’s press office.

For passengers who regularly use public transport, there are plans to introduce a discount scheme when topping up travel cards. The cost of a single journey will depend on the number of journeys purchased:

  • 1–9 journeys — 30 UAH;
  • 10–19 — 28.90 UAH;
  • 20–29 — 27.80 UAH;
  • 30–39 — 26.60 UAH;
  • 40–49 — 25.50 UAH;
  • 50 — 25 UAH.

Monthly travel passes are also available, with the cost of a single journey amounting to approximately 23.3–23.6 UAH. The proposed prices for monthly travel passes are:

  • 46 journeys — 1,088 UAH;
  • 62 journeys — 1,463 UAH;
  • 92 journeys — 2,156 UAH;
  • 124 journeys — 2,888 UAH.

An unlimited monthly pass for the metro, bus, tram, trolleybus and funicular will cost 4,875 UAH.

Discounted rates remain in place for students and schoolchildren. Students will pay 50% of the monthly pass price, whilst schoolchildren will pay 25% during the summer holidays (and travel free of charge during the school year).

There are also plans to introduce a transfer ticket costing 60 UAH. This will allow passengers to transfer between the metro and surface transport within 90 minutes without restrictions.

Special unlimited travel passes are available for visitors to the city:

  • 24 hours — 375 UAH;
  • for 48 hours — 563 UAH;
  • for 72 hours — 750 UAH.

Journeys purchased on a transport card before 14 July 2026 will remain valid until 14 September 2026.

The public may submit suggestions and comments on the draft order until 1 June 2026 via the forum.kyivcity.gov.ua platform. The new fares are planned to be introduced from 15 July 2026, following the completion of the necessary procedures and consultations.
