Tragic skiing accident: 70-year-old woman dies in Kharkiv
On 18 January, a 70-year-old woman died while sledding in the Nemyshlyanskyi district of Kharkiv. This was reported by the Kharkiv Regional Police. The call to law enforcement came in at around 2 p.m., and medics who arrived at the scene pronounced the woman dead before the ambulance arrived.
The body of the deceased was found in the snow, with a snow tube nearby. An investigative team from Police Department No. 2 worked at the scene, examining the area, interviewing witnesses, and identifying the woman as a 70-year-old resident of Kharkiv. According to the forensic medical expert, no external injuries were found, but the preliminary conclusion indicates that the woman suffered fatal injuries while sledding.
A criminal case has been opened into the death, marked as an "accident." Law enforcement officers are continuing to investigate all the circumstances of the tragedy.
Experts remind everyone of the basic safety rules for winter activities: choose only specially equipped slides without trees, metal structures, or steep descents; use serviceable tubes or sleds; avoid sliding in areas with heavy foot traffic; and be sure to take age and health into account.
