Trump announced a sharp increase in arms production in the United States
US President Donald Trump announced his intention to quadruple the production of so-called "Exquisite Class" weapons after meeting with the heads of leading American defence companies.
The American leader announced this on his social network Truth Social, according to Lockheed Martin.
Which companies participated in the negotiations
The negotiations with the president were attended by the heads of the largest US defence corporations and partner companies, including:
- BAE Systems
- Boeing
- Honeywell Aerospace
- L3Harris Missile Solutions
- Lockheed Martin
- Northrop Grumman
- Raytheon
According to Trump, the main goal of these agreements is to increase the production of modern weapons as quickly as possible.
Production has already begun to expand
The US President said that work on expanding the defence industry began several months before this meeting.
"The expansion began about three months before our meeting, and now the factories are already working on the production of many types of these weapons," Trump said.
Ammunition stocks and new orders
Trump also said that the United States has significant stocks of medium and high-grade ammunition used in military operations abroad.
According to him, despite the existing stocks, the US government is additionally increasing the volume of orders to strengthen the country's defence capabilities.
New defence factories
During the meeting, the parties also agreed to hold the next round of negotiations in about two months.
Various US states have already begun submitting applications to build new facilities to fulfil defence orders.
Earlier, Lockheed Martin announced that it had begun work on increasing the production of critical ammunition. According to the company, the process is being coordinated by US Secretary of Defence Pete Hagseth and Deputy Secretary of Defence Feinberg.
