Trump is dissatisfied with Zelensky's and Europe's demands
According to The Atlantic. An unnamed high-ranking official and a former official told the publication that in recent days, Trump privately expressed frustration that his loud diplomatic efforts have not yielded results.
At the same time, it remains unclear what a peace agreement might look like if it is reached. In particular, the United States has not made clear commitments regarding security guarantees — Washington is only considering continuing intelligence sharing with Ukraine and possibly providing assistance in the field of air defense.
"He just wants it all to be over. He almost doesn't care how," said an unnamed high-ranking official to journalists.
Speaking with journalists in the Oval Office, Trump stated: "Nothing pleases me in this war. Nothing." He said he would decide on a course of action in two weeks — his favorite way to delay a decision — and warned that there would be "very serious consequences" if Zelensky and Putin do not meet soon. But on Monday, he admitted he does not know if the meeting will happen and suggested he might be willing to exit the conflict if it drags on.
"Maybe it will, or maybe not," he said about Putin and Zelensky. "They would like me to be at the meeting. I told them: 'You guys figure it out yourselves. It's your business. Not ours.'"
