Restrictions on communications and the internet
Mobile network operators are sending messages to Moscow residents warning of ‘temporary restrictions’ on mobile internet and text messaging services from 5 to 9 May.

Novaya Gazeta reports this, citing the mobile operator Beeline.

“We recommend using Wi-Fi to access the internet,” Beeline said.

Earlier, the media reported that restrictions in Moscow ahead of the 9 May parade would become “stricter”.

Mobile communications will be blocked not only in central Moscow but also within the Moscow Ring Road. It is possible that even the “white lists” — internet resources that remain accessible during internet restrictions — will not work.

On the night of 4 May, an explosion was heard in Moscow following a drone attack. The incident occurred five days before the planned 9 May parade, which the Russian authorities traditionally turn into a propaganda spectacle.

According to reports from local social media groups, an unidentified UAV struck a high-rise building in the Mosfilmovskaya Street area. Prior to this, residents of the Moscow region had filmed the drone flying overhead.

This year’s 9 May parade on Red Square in Moscow will take place without military equipment, featuring only a marching column. The number of guests will be reduced to a few hundred instead of the usual thousands, and the parade itself will last less than an hour.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Ukrainian drones may appear over the 9 May parade in Moscow. According to him, Russia is no longer as strong as it once was.
