Amendments to the anti-doping rules in sport have been registered with the Rada
This was announced by Taras Melnychuk, the Cabinet of Ministers’ representative in the Verkhovna Rada, on Telegram.
The Cabinet of Ministers has registered draft law No. 15212 with the Verkhovna Rada.
The document provides for amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Anti-Doping Activities in Sport”.
According to Taras Melnychuk, the draft law was prepared in connection with amendments to the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code and international standards.
These changes were introduced by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
The updated rules are due to come into force on 1 January 2027.
The draft law proposes changing the title “International Standard for Testing and Investigations” to “International Standard for Testing”.
The document also provides for a change in the name of the National Anti-Doping Centre.
It is proposed that it be named the National Anti-Doping Centre of Ukraine.
Separately, the draft law clarifies the powers of the National Anti-Doping Centre of Ukraine.
It is also proposed to clarify the powers of the Nomination Committee and the Supervisory Board of the National Anti-Doping Centre.
Another change concerns the organisation of sporting competitions and training camps.
At the legislative level, it is proposed to make the presence of doping control points mandatory during official sporting competitions.
This requirement should also apply to training camps included in the Unified Calendar of Physical Culture, Health and Sports Events and Competitions of Ukraine.
The draft law also proposes setting restrictions on the persons authorised to carry out doping controls.
Furthermore, the document provides for the possibility of payments to members of auxiliary anti-doping bodies.
These include the Disciplinary Anti-Doping Commission, the Anti-Doping Appeals Commission and the Therapeutic Use Committee.
Thus, the draft law aims to update Ukrainian anti-doping legislation ahead of the entry into force of new international rules in 2027.
