An assassination attempt was made on Russian Major General Azatbek Omurbekov at a military garrison in the village of Knyaze-Volkonskoye-1 (Khabarovsk Krai, Russian Federation). In 2022, he commanded the 64th Separate Motorised Rifle Brigade and issued orders to Russian executioners during the occupation of Bucha.

This is reported by InformNapalm.

The explosive device detonated in a postbox in the stairwell of a residential building. The explosion killed Lieutenant Colonel Kuzmenko, commander of the training communications battalion, and several others were injured.

Omurbekov’s condition is currently unknown. Attempts are being made to cover up the incident.

Omurbekov was identified back in April 2022.

Following this, a number of countries added him to their sanctions lists.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the war criminal the title of Hero of Russia.
